    AGRiP Governance Conference 2024
Governance Conference is for pool governing body members and the team supporting them to talk, learn and problem-solve in a pool-focused environment. Governing body members can explore concepts that relate to their role at the pool and in their role within a local public entity.

    Event Details

Two keynotes and more than 30 sessions focus on good pool governance and timely topics.

The conference agenda and session descriptions will be available starting in mid-December, with information updated on an ongoing basis in our conference app.

    Keynotes include:

Hug Your Haters! Your Most Disconnected Members Hold the Key to Better Service (Monday, Mar. 4)

Customer service researcher and expert Jay Baer returns to AGRiP following his highly regarded and energizing presentation at Staff Forum 2023. This time, Jay will use his nearly 30 years of experience to share:

    • Why customer expectations are rising faster than ever and why the change should matter to  pools.

    • How to turn negativity — and even criticism — about your pool into an opportunity.

    • Common disconnects between how members and pools perceive customer service.

Be Conscious About Your Pool’s Culture (Tuesday, Mar. 5)

The bar is raised in terms of what people expect from the workplace. Employees are less willing to tolerate mediocre cultures and practices that don’t support their individual interests alongside organizational goals. Being conscious about setting and maintaining your pool’s culture is as important today as setting a financial or membership target!

In this provocative yet practical keynote, AGRiP’s 2024 Resident and award-winning author Jamie Notter will identify culture patterns that exist in every organization and talk about the importance of consciously building a culture that can be measured through real results — all in a matter of months, not years.

    Session topics will include:

    • Understanding First Amendment audits

    • Artificial intelligence in day-to-day work

    • Choosing a captive domicile and manager

    • Proven methods to stop nuclear verdicts

    • Reinsurance market updates for liability, property, employee health benefits and workers' compensation

    • Importance of ongoing education for pool governing bodies

    • Understanding key actuarial concepts

    • Top pool executive compensation and benefits findings

    • Managing crisis events in small communities
